Dog Day Afternoons
If you love your furbabies the way the Demaree family does, you understand why we do everything we can to give them a joyful life. We spent a fantastic Dog Day Afternoon last week and it was fun!

Our daughter Caroline and Dallas, our Mohawk-mopped Aussie-Doodle, splashed in the pool together during this year's Dog Day at Crystal Beach Aquatic Park in Madison, Indiana, an event to commemorate the end of another memorable summer at one of the best city pools in Indiana, if not the world! (Overstatement? Maybe, but next summer you'll have to see for yourself.)
Clearly everyone there, from the bipeds to the quadropeds, had a great time. In all, the park reported 61 dogs came to swim and frolic with their families and friends. The event raised more than $600 for the day, half of which will be donated to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter, to help them reach their fundraising goal for their Building Fund. According the shelter's website:
"Ivy Tech’s Veterinary Nursing Program is seeking a long-term solution to meet its facility needs. ... At the same time, the Jefferson County Animal Shelter is in dire need of a new building. United, this project helps both organizations achieve their goals while strengthening animal care and education in our community."
Here is an architect's rendering of what the building will look like:

To donate to the fund, cash is welcome, along with checks made payable to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter; please use the term "Building Fund" in the memo line. You may drop off donations at the shelter, 2727 Hannah Drive, just behind the Madison Ivy Tech campus.
Donations may also be made to The Friends of the Jefferson County Animal Shelter, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting shelter operations, medical care, animal well-being, and increased adoption opportunities. Every private dollar raised helps unlock even more funding through this grant opportunity.
Help support a great project that will make Madison––and Jefferson County––a place you'll love to call home!
